Baptism of Fire is a phrase that is often used to describe how Jesus came to be the first in a long line of the 12 Apostles. In Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist is quoted as saying, “I have come to bring you news of the life of the Christ, the Son of God.” And in the same verse, we are told that the one who is “following” Jesus is to “baptize” him.
It is important to note that the word “baptize” is not the word that is translated into English in the New Testament. It is only translated into this word in this particular passage. However, in most translations, the meaning is not difficult to understand. The word “baptize” means to “give a new birth” or to “bring into the world.” And in the context of the story of Jesus and the 12 Apostles, it means to be the first to receive the light of God.
It is also important to note that the phrase “baptize with water” is not to be taken literally. Water is not the only thing that can bring salvation. The Bible also tells us that “every believer” who is saved and who is going to be in heaven is saved “by water, by grace, and by the blood of the Lamb” (Ephesians 2:15).
